The Wilson plays a prominent cultural role within Cheltenham and the wider Cotswold region. The new gallery was designed to harmonise with the existing Grade II listed museum building, with vertically stacked galleries being joined to existing galleries via a new full height circulation void. Providing education and outreach spaces, open archives, increased storage areas, a café and a shop; since completion the centre’s visitor numbers have risen from 72,000 in 2010 to more than 240,000 in 2013.
