Emily Thomas Building
This project required the creation of additional space in a constrained
college site. Using part of the existing roof and adding
a section
of additional accommodation: five
new study bedrooms, bathrooms and kitchen.
Because the existing
listed building was constructed in masonry over a concrete frame,
and the continuous
occupancy of the lower floors was required, the construction process
was particularly complex. A new semi-basement office was created
under a stone-paved raised terrace, and the basement was extensively
remodelled to provide
changing rooms
and laundry facilities.
