High-quality, flexible office space built on a restricted budget and requiring low running costs. The existing building on a brownfield site was U-shaped in plan with two-storey accommodation wrapping around a double height central hall. An expressive and exciting steel structure was inserted into the main hall to provide mezzanine accommodation and further open plan and cellular office space. The lighting design which provides Category 2 lighting, and features uplighting, further enhances the drama of the main hall and provides a visually stimulating workplace.
