Sustainability

As architects it is our responsibility to create buildings that improve the quality of life for people and communities while limiting their impact on the world's fragile eco-systems.

Our approach is holistic, recognizing the importance of economic, social and environmental considerations throughout the design process. Our Sustainability Director is responsible for managing and implementing our Sustainability Policy and making sure this is understood by our staff, design teams and clients. We also have a dedicated research group within the practice who explore and communicate emerging regulation, thinking and technology. Alan Berman has also published several books on Green Design.

In 2008 we were awarded BREEAM Excellent rating for the Indoor Tennis Centre we designed at the University of Warwick. We also have a qualified LEED assessor within the practice.

Sustainability

Efficiency and the careful utilisation of resources help us to reduce waste, creating greater value for money and we have won awards for the sensitive conservation and creative re-use of existing buildings. This not only protects our heritage, but also prolongs a building’s life so that it can be used and enjoyed by future generations.

The environmental agenda is not without debate. And we know that achieving return on investment with ‘green design’ is a fine and difficult balance. That is why we think about it holistically. To do this we work with experts who give us practical, commercial and technical advice. We have recently established a research group to share knowledge across the practice and Alan Berman has published several books on green design.
