University of Buckingham: Prebend House
Located in the Buckingham Conservation Area, the site includes the garden of a Grade II listed house on the banks of the river Great Ouse. The scheme has been designed to respect and make the most of its sensitive location while uniting the new academic building with the rest of the university campus. Tutorial rooms, seminar rooms, computer and lecture spaces will be created by refurbishing the existing Grade II listed house and creating two new contemporary buildings: designed to complement their historic neighbour.

Old and new will be linked by a two storey glazed corridor to provide views into the University campus to the south and across the river Great Ouse to the west. The river has been opened up to provide a new inlet and mooring area. The new buildings include a number of sustainable features such as ground source heat and cooling systems, solar panels and rainwater harvesting. High levels of insulation and materials with low embodied energy will be used where possible.
