Oxford School of Drama
Theatre and dance come alive in the performance and rehearsal spaces created by Berman Guedes Stretton for the Oxford School of Drama.
Understanding and respecting the school´s rural location was a key consideration in the design of a development plan. Rehearsal studios, a small studio theatre, a new storage block and the conversion of an existing studio into offices, were delivered over four phases.
The expression and form of the new buildings and conversions took inspiration from the existing farm buildings on the site. A high quality palette of materials in stone, glass, timber and slate complement the existing. A frameless glass screen and an architectural steel and timber staircase creates its own sense of drama in the entrance.
