Keble College: Library
A sustainable, low cost and low maintenance naturally ventilated environment was created for Keble College´s extremely valuable medieval manuscript collection.
The simple installation has proved effective throughout a full seasonal cycle.
To convert a dark store into study areas, a window was inserted into William Butterfield´s existing facade. Using photomontage techniques the design team manipulated a number of Butterfield´s window designs to find a complimentary solution. Glazing is fitted directly into the stone surround to echo existing building traditions. Additional light is introduced through hidden roof lights.
