Imperial College: Central Administration and Social Centre
Thirteen service departments have been united into one building at Imperial College in London.
A modernist building designed in the 1960s by Norman & Dawbarn was refurbished to provide an administration and social centre to free up space on campus for the expansion of existing facilities.
The design solution employed innovative structural principles with a low environmental impact. By infilling light wells on two levels, and moving to open plan accommodation, the floor space was increased by approximately 70%.
